Medallion, Easter Dresses, Rosettes.....

Jessica received her YW Medallion today!
We are very proud of her!
I love how they added a ruby to the necklace...
"who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies(Proverbs 31:10)

also from the Young Women Personal Progress book:
"Give me a young woman who loves home and family,
who reads and ponders the scriptures daily,
who has a burning testimony of the Book of Mormon.
Give me a young woman who faithfully attends her church meetings,
who is a seminary graduate,
who has earned her Young Womanhood Recognition Award and wears it with pride!
Give me a young woman who is virtuous and who has maintained her personal purtity,
who will not settle for less than a temple marriage,
and I will give you a young woman who will perform miracles
for the Lord now and throughout eternity."
Ezra Taft Benson
Keep up the good work Jessica - we appreciate the example
you set for us and your younger siblings!!!

these are the Easter Dresses that I made the girls this week!
I got the idea of adding the ROSETTES from D.E. Basic's dress called "Sunday Best" -
I am really happy with how they turned out!
If I was a cool blogger like some of you -
I would do a little tutorial on how to make the rosettes.....
but, since I'm not - you can google it-
there are tons of instructions out there - or, come on over
I'll just show you how -
WARNING:
making the 6 rosettes took about as long as sewing both dresses!
I might make two more to put on a headband for their hair -
(the one in Nicole's hair was my experiment - before I googled how to make them,
so, I'll have to make her a new one for her hair)
the wind was not helping us out today......
but I wanted to get some pics from this special day!

Thanks Grandpa & Grandma

Thanks for inviting us over for dinner last night!
We had tons of fun cooking over the fire!
The kids haven't stopped talking about it -
and can't wait until next time!
WE LOVE YOU!
(mom you'll have to send me the pics you took)

Sewing....

When we were first married I sewed quite a bit -
but, as the babies came along and life got busier,
and the house too crowded to have all the sewing stuff out-
(and little fingers kept turning all the sewing maching knobs) -
I sort of gave up on it (for about ten years)-
lately I have just really been wanting to sew something -
but haven't made it to a fabric store.
The other day I thought I'd go into the local Youth Ranch to see if there were any baseball cleats.
I didn't find any cleats - but this chunk of fabric was staring at me!!!
I love it - and turned it into this.....
(ya got to love a dress that only costs $3.71)

thanks mom for encouraging us in 4-H all those years!
Aunt Mary, thanks for your help, too!
I LOVE you both!
