SPECIAL DELIVERY

Jason has become buddies with the garbage men. This summer he was always outside when they showed up on Wednesday mornings, so he would say "hi" or wave to them. I don't think he has missed a week! The last week of summer, they asked John if he could have a ride down to the end of the lane and back.(I know, I know, this can only happen in our neck of the woods!). You can see Eric hopped on the back.
Well, now that it is cooler, we haven't been outside as much. But, when we hear the garbage truck coming, we always open the front door and say "Hi" AND "THANKYOU"(because I think we really do owe them the HUGEST thankyou ever for the job they do!!!!!!!!)
Anyway, last Wednesday, we opened the door to wave, and the garbage man(I really should know his name by now) motioned for us to come out. I carried Jason out, and the garbage man pulled out this BIG pumpkin from the passenger seat and carried it to our front step! I thought it was SO thoughtful.
WE COULD ALL BE MORE THOUGHTFUL....
Thankyou Mr. Garbage Man!

Making Applesauce with Mom

I'm sure you are all very sick of my "canning posts"-
but once again we have been blessed by good people- who gave us apples-AND jars!!!
I could NOT turn it down.
Jason & I spent the day yesterday making applesauce, and need to spend just a few more hours at it tomorrow! I'm so thankful Jason is such a patient little guy and likes to help me with this crazy stuff!!! Just look at him work!

GRAPES

I know I said I was "all done for the year" -
But, we are SOOOOO blessed with amazing friends and neighbors!!! The Manwarings called me up and asked if I would like to have all their grapes this year, and when I said I would LOVE to have them, but that I had NO empty jars, she offered to give me enough jars for all the juice they would create!!! All this food storage is such a blessing for our family!!! Our other friends/neighbors, the Wrights, offered me more grapes. Their grapes created the DARK juice. Since I was at it again, I decided to make some jelly as well...........
(the orange stuff is nectarine jelly-thankyou Joan for the nectarines!!!)

Our Halloween History

A few days ago, the kids and I were discussing the different things that they have dressed up as for Halloween. We couldn't remember everything, so I told them I would get out some pictures.
So, here they are in all their "scanned-into-the-computer" glory.........

Here we are in 1995 - our little sunflower:

1996 - our little ballerina

1997 - TWO CLOWNS(OK - maybe 4)

1998 - Little Red Riding Hood & Scarecrow

1999 - Nicole was a newborn(30 days old) and since Eric had a bad ear infection - John kept Nicole(half dressed sunflower) and Eric home. So, only the little cheerleader got to go "trunk-or-treating" this year.

2000 - here we have Dorothy - but no pictures of anyone else in costume???? So, here was a picture of all of us around the giant pumpkin "Uncle Steve" bought us!

2001 - some cute Tiggers and a handsome Cowboy

2002 - trick -or -treating at the Wright's house

2003 - Four Scarecrows and a pirate(6 year old boy NOT interested in being a scarecrow)!!!

2004 - here is the family(the baby pumpkin is our sweet Ellie Coburn). Jessica missed the family photo - but here she is batting at a pinata.

2005 - Here we tried our hand at a theme "the Wizard of Oz" - check out that OVER STUFFED scarecrow(ten days before Jason was born!!!)

2006 - Trick-or-Treating at the Wright's house!

2007 - All of us Trick-or-Treating at the Patrick's house!

2008 - stay tuned!!!
